Starts and Sits for the Genesis Open.
This tournament seems to favor big hitters as the course is long and a challenge for most players. Bubba Watson has won this event three of the past five years, He might make it four of past six. Tiger Woods and Rory McIIroy will be playing this weekend with Spain's Sergio Garcia.
Enough of the flowery talk, as I have to get this report done for the week. The fans like at the Waste Management Phoenix Open will have a memorable weekend if some of the real 'metal' of the PGA comes to play. Enjoy the viewing on Television this weekend.
Starts-Dustin Johnson a favorite to win at any event he will enter this year. Justin Thomas should easily finish in the Top Ten. The old saying usually applies in sports, 'to be the champion, you must beat the champion.” Bubba Watson fits the bill to test that theory.
How can you have a tournament without steady player Jon Rahm not being in your lineup each week? If, Bryson DeChambeau can catch some momentum early, he could have a win, and include Rory McIlroy as always a play since two weeks ago this spoace had as a sit!
Longshot: Okay, include me as a fan of Tiger Woods, granted he's older now. Tiger might not in his prime, but if Mickelson could win last week, the it can happen here this week.
Sits: What comes to mind when I hear Adam Scott's name, “Throw another Aussie on the barbe for us...” Well the same applies this week as he did okay in the Waste Management event, but, more expectations for better finishes in the future, just not this weekend. Include Tony Finau as being on the outside looking in to see not in the top 20 golfers this week.
Good Luck,
Colin, 'The Irish Highwayman'
