2019 Johnny 'Mudcat' Williams aka 'The Dean of the Diamond'

                                   Johnny 'Mudcat' Williams
                                                                    'The Dean of the Diamond'

Also goes by 'Old Time Ball Game', or sometimes just The Old Man of Mudville. But, known now as the' Dean of the Diamond.'

A former professional journeyman baseball catcher that spent 14 years with 6 teams. A career .240 lifetime batting average with only 20 home runs, which did not strike much fear into the opposition pitchers. But, a great defensive player who had a solid reputation of being able to call a good game behind the plate.

He managed 12 seasons all with one team, the Montreal Habitants, where he never had a losing season. However, he was dumped by the new ownership, all technology geeks that made it big in the 1990s before the Internet bubble crashed. It made it to the media they wanted a more 'hip' coach when they moved the team down south to Memphis, Tennessee.

He was out of baseball for a few years when the PLB (Professional Baseball League) called to see if he wanted an analyst role at the league's new television network.

Johnny was apprehensive at first to take the role, but, his wife told him that she saw it every day how much he missed the game,...”just give it a chance, you might like it.” She told him after dinner one night.

The league's marketing department pitches an idea for a show title. The head of that organization saying out load for what seemed to be for every on Madison Avenue to hear, “The Mudcat's Corner, with your host Johnny 'Mudcat' Williams, the Dean of the Diamond.” There was silence afterwards until the place erupts in applause from the staffers.

A star is born it seems almost overnight, where America, from seven to eight o'clock on week nights, can tune in to see the 'Mudcat' talk about his passion for the game of baseball.

He also writes a pre-season team preview starting in March, and also a fantasy player position by position evaluation during that time as well. The publications are now seen as the gold standard in the industry, a must read for the serious fan...'A Mudcat' fans.' Soon to be on thousands of shirts and other marketed items across the baseball world.

Mudcat Sports (his wife Susan's idega) now has over fifty people that work at the publication with a subscriber base of over one million paying customers. They, also buy many items on the site with the Mudcat image: a catfish with the same 1970s curvy mustache he sported while on the field during that era.

The Mudcat's motto, usually starts, 'They say that good things happen for those who wait.” Then he goes on to say, “The Catfish Sports team wants you the fantasy baseball player to win your day league and also your bro league too, become a Mudcat fan today.”
