Recap of Last Week's Starts or Sits at the WM/ Phoenix Open
Starts-
Just
from the initial review of last week's selections. It would be worth
it to take a Mulligan and forget about the event. But, you know I can
not, because it would be against the game, a betrayal of my soul to
cheat the great game of golf
Jon
Rahm,
-10 (10th
Place) as stated before did okay by his standards, all he does each
week place in the Top Ten, no surprise indeed. Justin
Thomas,
-14 (3rd
Place), choked his way all day on Sunday. Hideki
Matsuyama,
-9 (15th
Place) looked okay at times , however never got into a grove like
most of the field last Sunday.a two-time champion of this event and a
heavy favorite to win on Sunday, must prove he is back for good.
Count
start selection Gary
Woodland, -11 (Seventh Place) in
the same boat as Hidekii as far as consistent play on the greens.
Rounding out the field was Xander
Schauffele , -10 , good
for a ten spot in the field.
Week
3 Average: 54
Strokes (-10.8), 9th
place average, and 5 for 5 Make Cut.
Long
shots: Phil
Mickelson, Lefty was rightly cut for bad play Maybe a bette money
making oppiortunity was available last weekend or the fact he is 48
years old.
Sits:
This is where the pain starts as I watched Rickie Fowler win the
event at a -17 and then Bubba Watson finishes in 4th Place
with a -12, so much for my prediction of these two staying on the
pine...
Week
3 Average: 31 Strokes 9 (-15.5) for a 2nd place
finish, and 2 for 2 Make Cut.
Totals
for the Season:
Start
Average:
-229 (14.3) 16 Golfers, (16th
Place), 16 for 16 Make Cut, 1 Win and 10 (3.3) Top Ten Finishes.
Sit
Average: -67 (13.2) 5 Golfers, (15th Place) and 6 of 8
Make Cut, 1 Win and 2 Top Ten Finishes.
Starts and Sits for the Pebble Beach AT&T Pro-Am
Starts-The
'Golden Bear' Jack Nichlos stated something like if he had one last
round of golf he could play on earth it would be at Pebble Beach. If,
so, why did only a few of the elite players participate in this
event? The additional prize money maybe was not enough to entice
participation from the players to play a few rounds with celebrities
like actor Bill Murray (our site's mascot, or is that the gopher?)
former Secretary of State Condezeela Rice, or with a former athlete
like Wayne Gretzky.
Anyway,
the one top performer Dustin Johnson (won here in 2010) a no
brainer this week for a must play. Include as always, steady Jason
Day. Include Jordan Spieth a nice chance for redemption
this week. Now it gets kind of bunched up with many options but the
three I will take: Matt Kuchar, Tommy Fleetwood and Paul
Casey could be feast of famine for plays.
Longshot:
Adam Scott,
because I sat him after a pick up this week, just the way it usually
works out for my teams.
Sits:
If,
I watch this event and I see someone like Rickie Fowler again win, I
will get online at Draft Kings and place money on this selection
group next week. Tony
Finau, Branden Grace and
Chez
Reavie should
all ride the pine this week.
Good
Luck,
The
Commish
