Recap of Last Week's Starts or Sits at the Valspar Championship.

Starts: Who was hot and not seemd to have been flipped last week as Dustin Johnson shot a -5 for a Fifth place tie with fellow Start selection Rahm. Okay, you might be thinking, what's wrong with those scores, if you dropped off the earth last week. To quote a famous sports announcer from a by gone era, “Oh Nellie, you ain't seen nothing yet...” Sergio Garcia had a +4 for a 54th place finish, then the three amigos, Webb Simpson +6, Jason Day +3 and Patrick Reed +10 all missed the cut!.
Longshot: We would even had done better last week if Kevin Kisner, (who shot a -1 for 24th place) was selected. The last time I use the odds chart for picks!!!
Week 10 Average: +13 strokes (+2.2 ) for a 51 st. place finish, of 3 of 6 Make Cut and 2 of 6 Finish Top10.
Sits:I want to give last week's comments on the two golfers I placed on the bench, and focus on the comments why not to play, the first Bubba Watson, this pick may back fire on me, because he seems to play better the weeks I do not pick as a starter! I did start him because I only had two actives on my roster with his -6 and 4th place effort. The next player was Paul Casey, who might just be laying in the weeds to win, based on the lack of top players in the tournament. Oh, he laid there like a cougar and ripped my throat out like a new born lamb with a first place win at a -8!

Week 10 Average: 14 strokes (7.0) for a 2nd Place finish, 1 Win, 2 of 2 Top 10 Finish and 2 of 2 Make Cut.

Totals for the Season:

Start Average: -390 (7.0) 58 Golfers, (22nd Place), 46 for 52 Make Cut, 2 (0.20)Wins and 23 (2.3) Top Ten Finishes in 10 Weeks.

Sit Average: -141(7.9) 18 Golfers, (20thPlace) and 16 of 18 Make Cut, 2 (0.20)Wins and 7 Top (0.6) Ten Finishes.

Week 11 Starts or Sits for the Corales Puntacana Resort & Club Championship.

Taking a vacation like most of our players this week. It seems a three million dollae purse not worth their time, and mine also, because MLB starts up!!!! If you live in the North East part of the United States, take a sweater with you and hit some balls at a driving range or play a round this weekend, the forecast looks great for golf!

Good Luck,
Colin, 'The Irish Highwayman'

Longshot: Kevin Kisner, why not this week, look at his odds to win at 40-1 as an insurance claim come due on Sunday.
Sits: Bubba Watson, this pick may back fire on me, because he seems to play better the weeks I do not pick as a starter.! Last but not least, Paul Casey, who might just be laying in the weeds to win, based on the lack of top players in the tournament.

Good Luck,
Colin, 'The Irish Highwayman'

Week 9 Starts or Sits for the Players Championship.
One of the more fun tournaments to watch before Spring arrives very soon on our door steps. Maybe what shows up is the Gopher from the movie Caddy Shack seen with actor Bill Murray from the now classic 'playing it through' scene in Karl's living room. Okay I had some time on my hands to think this stuff up when I was on my back last week with a foot infection.
So, let's all pray to the Golf (Gopher) Gods for better scores this week. I wish everyone Top 10 finishes, lots of birdies, and no cuts for the week.
Starts- As always take dependable Justin Thomas to have a strong showing this week in Jacksonville. Rory McIllroy should roll into a top five finish with his steady play. With all 50 top golfers at the Players this week, it would be wrong not to include Rickie Fowler as being in the mix for Sunday.
After a few out of character performances in recent weeks, Jon Rahm gets back into tournament contention. Xander Schauffele may win this Tournament because his game tailored for this course. One final golfer to consider, Tiger Woods, for the shear reason I want something to capture my attention as I channel surf this weekend in my quest to find college hoop games.
Long Shot- Ian Poulter because the last two years at this PGA Tour event, he finished 11th last year and second place the prior year.
Sits: Tommy Fleetwood, because he has been very inconsistent this season as has Jordan Speith.

Good Luck,
Colin, 'The Irish Highwayman'
